Phew.  Its been a whirlwind week and a half since Pop!Tech and somehow we’re finding ourselves in San Francisco today at the Web 2.0 Summit. We’ve barely had a chance to digest everything from being up in Maine.

We have big aspirations, and we have a really long feature list of things that we’re working on and continuously deploying.  Before we get to “what’s coming”, however, let’s talk about what’s changed:

  • Internet Explorer support - if you came to WattzOn using IE right after our Pop!Tech launch, you may have seen an annoying window saying how we have optimized everything for use in Firefox and in Safari.  We hope (fingers crossed), that we got IE working right now.
  • User walk through - one of the biggest complaints we kept on hearing was user’s were getting confused when they were dropped off at their profile.  “What do I do next?” was a question we were getting a lot.  New users now are walked through setting up their profile, and we hope that should make that a lot easier for people.
  • HTTPS for login - we’re concerned about your privacy as well!

What’s next on our list?  Lots!  Here’s a taste:

  • “Unit-ification” - units are probably some of the most confusing things to people.  Sometimes things are displayed in a particular unit, but people are comfortable seeing it in a different unit.  We’re rolling out support so that people can change units to match their moods.
  • Better government page - right now, our government page only supports United States residents.  That’s because we are pulling average taxation data for the United States.  This is ripe for crowd sourcing global data, and we’re going to do that.
  • RSS for everything - its really hard to track all the things which are changing under the hood of WattzOn. Remember, this is a very dynamic platform where a single change may cause ripple effects in the way data is consumed and published.  Wouldn’t it be great to get a RSS feed that you can watch?  We think so too.

And the list keeps going: forums, heirarchical decomposition in the embodied energy estimator, travel distance for raw materials, better search.  Anything you want us to add?  Drop us a comment!
